Baldur Geir Bragason

Baldur Geir Bragason (f. 1976) Útskrifaðist úr Listaháskóla Íslands 2001 og nam svo við Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee hjá prof. Karin Sander. Baldur var aðstoðar- maður Birgis Andréssonar og hefur annast upphengi fyrir söfn og sýningarstaði.

Baldur hefur sótt ráðstefnur á vegum Dieter Roth Akademíunnar á Íslandi, Þýskalandi og í Kína. Á ferli sínum hefur Baldur verið ötull við að sýna bæði á Íslandi og erlendis á einka og samsýningum. Verk eftir hann eru í safn- eign Listasafns Reykjavíkur og í eigu safnara. Baldur hlaut hæstu úthlutun úr listasjóð Dungal 2010. Hann býr og starfar í Reykjavík.

Baldur Geir Bragason (b. 1976) graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2001 and then studied at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee with prof. Karin Sander. Baldur was Birgir Andrésson’s assistant and has been in charge of hanging for museums and exhibition places.

Baldur has attended conferences organized by the Dieter Roth Academy in Iceland, Germany and China. During his career, Baldur has been active in showing both in Iceland and abroad in private and group exhibitions. Works by him are in the collection of the Reykjavík Art Museum and owned by collectors. Baldur received the highest allocation from the Dungal Art Fund in 2010. He lives and works in Reykjavík.

Davíð Örn Halldórsson

Davíð Örn Halldórsson (f. 1976) hefur mestmegnis unnið við málverk síðan hann útskrifaðist frá myndlistardeild Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2002. Hann hefur unnið með óhefðbundnar málunaraðferðir; málað og spreyað með mis- munandi málningu á fundna hluti. Verk Davíðs Arnar eru persónuleg úrvinnsla á umhverfi hans sem hann varpar fram í myndmáli sem vísar í teiknimyndir, graffiti list, Pop list og vestræna listasögu. Davíð Örn hefur haldið fjölda einka- sýninga og tekið þátt í samsýningum hér á Íslandi og víða erlendis. Listasafn Íslands, Listasafn Háskóla íslands auk einkasafnara eiga verk eftir hann. Davíð fékk Dungal styrk- inn árið 2008 og árið 2013 hlaut hann hin virta Carnegie Art Award styrk í flokki ungra listamanna. Davíð býr og starfar í Reykjavík.

Davíð Örn Halldórsson (b. 1976) has mostly worked in painting since he graduated from the visual arts department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2002. He has worked with non-traditional painting methods; painted and sprayed with different paints on found objects. The work of Davíð Örn works are a personal elaboration of his environment, which he projects in imagery that refers to cartoons, graffiti art, Pop art and Western art history. Davíð Örn has held a number of solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Iceland and abroad. The National Gallery of Iceland, the Art Museum of the University of Iceland as well as private collectors own works by him. Davíð received the Dungal grant in 2008 and in 2013 he received the prestigious Carnegie Art Award in the category of young artists. Davíð lives and works in Reykjavík.

Gabríela Friðriksdóttir

Gabriela Friðriksdóttir (f. 1971) útskrifaðist frá Mynd- lista og handíðaskóla Íslands árið 1997 og hefur síðan þá tekið þátt í fjölmörgum verkefnum, haldið einkasýningar og tekið þátt í samsýningum. Hún vinnur með ýmsa miðla í listsköpun sinni, t.a.m. skúlptúr og innsetningar, málverk og kvikmyndagerð. Gabríela hlaut heiðursverðlaun Mynd- stefs 2005 og tilnefnd til hinna virtu Ars Fennica Award árið 2013. Gabríela tók þátt í Feneyjar tvíæringnum fyrir íslands hönd árið 2005.

Gabriela Friðriksdóttir (b. 1971) graduated from the Icelandic School of Fine Arts and Crafts in 1997 and has since then participated in numerous projects, held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions. She works with various media in her artistic creation, e.g. sculpture and installations, painting and filmmaking. Gabríela received the Myndstef honorary award in 2005 and was nominated for the prestigious Ars Fennica Award in 2013. Gabríela participated in the Venice Biennale on behalf of Iceland in 2005.

Gjörningaklúbburinn

Eirún Sigurðardóttir og Jóní Jónsdóttir eru starfandi meðlimir Gjörningaklúbbsins sem var stofnaður af þeim ásamt Sigrúnu Hrólfsdóttur árið 1996. Sigrún starfaði með hópnum frá 1996-2016 og Dóra Ísleifsdóttir starfaði með þeim frá 1996-2001.

Eirún stundaði framhaldsnám við Listaháskólann í Berlín 1996 -1998 og útskrifaðist með masters diplómu í hagnýtri jafnréttisfræði frá Háskóla Íslands 2014. Jóní stundaði framhaldsnám við Konunglegu listaakademíuna í Kaupmannahöfn 1997-1998 og útskrifaðist með mastersgráðu í kennslufræðum frá Listaháskóla Íslands 2011.

Hugmyndir Gjörningaklúbbsins tengjast oft félagslegum málefnum með feminískum áherslum í bland við glettni og hressandi einlægni. Gjörningaklúbburinn vinnur í þá miðla sem þjóna hugmyndum hans hverju sinni, svo sem gjörninga, ljósmyndir og innsetningar og nýtir sér gjarnan verkfræði ömmunar, handverk og útsjónarsemi í bland við glæsileika og nútímatækni.

Gjörningaklúbburinn á að baki fjölda einka- og samsýninga í söfnum og galleríum um allan heim þar á meðal ARoS listasafnið í Danmörku, MoMA samtímalistasafninu í New York, Kunstahalle Vienna í Austurríki, Schirn Kunsthalle og samtímalistasafninu Hamburger Bahnhof í Þýskalandi, Amos Anderson listasafninu í Helsinki og Lilith Performance Studio í Svíþjóð.

Jóní Jónsdóttir and Eirún Sigurðardóttir are the current members of the art collective The Icelandic Love Corporation (ILC) an art group established in 1996 by Jóní, Eirún and Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir. Sigrún was a member from 1996-2016 and Dóra Ísleifsdóttir was a member from 1996-2001

Jóní and Eirún graduated from The Icelandic Collage of Arts and Crafts in 1996. Jóní studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1997-1999 and graduated with MA.Ed. in Art Education from Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2011. Eirún studied at Berlin University of the Arts 1996-1998 and graduated in 2014 from the University of Iceland with a postgraduate Diploma in Applied Gender Studies.

The Icelandic Love Corporation has actively and successfully worked in the field of visual art, both at home and abroad, using nearly all possible media—including performance, video, photography, and installation—the ILC confronts the seriousness of the world with works that blend playfulness, humor and spectacle with refreshing genuineness and subtle social critique that often incorporates ideas of traditional femininity, with feministic approach.

ILC´s Interdisciplinary art led them to collaborate with Björk Guðmundsdóttir for her Volta album in 2007 and a wide range of other collaborations e.g. GusGus, Ensamble Adapter, Ragnar Kjartansson and Kiyoshi Yamamoto

They’re works have been exhibited internationally, e.g. at ARoS Kunstmuseum Denmark, Moma Museum of Modern Art New York, The Schirn Kunsthalle Germany, Kunsthalle Wien Vienna, Amos Anderson Art Museum Helsinki and Lilith Performance Studio Sweden.

Guðmundur Thoroddsen

Guðmundur Thoroddsen (f. 1980) lauk BA námi í myndlist frá Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2003 og útskrifaðist með með MFA gráðu í myndlist frá School of Visual Arts í New York árið 2011. Hann hefur tekið þátt í fjölda sýninga bæði hér á landi sem og erlendis og fjallað hefur verið um sýningar hans í ýmsum fjöl- miðlum s.s. Artforum, The New York Times, Time Out New York og Dazed Digital. Hann hefur hlotið styrki úr styrktarsjóðum Guðmundu Andrésdóttur, Myndstefs, KÍM og Evrópu unga fólksins. Guðmundur er á mála hjá Asya Geisberg Gallery í New York.

Guðmundur Thoroddsen (b. 1980) graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2003 and graduated with an MFA degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2011. He has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Iceland and abroad and his exhibitions have been covered in various media, e.g. Artforum, The New York Times, Time Out New York and Dazed Digital. He has received grants from Guðmundur Andrésdóttir’s, Myndstef’s, KÍM and the Youth Europe. Guðmundur is represented at Asya Geisberg Gallery in New York.
