Karlotta Blöndal
Karlotta Blöndal (f. 1973) fædd og búsett í Reykjavík. Hún vinnur í ýmsum miðlum, allt frá teikningum, málverkum, innsetningum og gjörningum þar sem hún rannsakar hugmyndir um vídd, tengsl milli þess efnislæga og andlega, hins einstaka og hins endurgerða.
Karlotta Blöndal (b.1973) is a contemporary artist born and living in Reykjavík, Iceland. She works in a variety of media, ranging from drawings, paintings, environmental installations and performances exploring notions of dimensionality, the connection between the material and the spiritual, the unique and the reproduced.
Short bio
Karlotta Blöndal lives and works in Reykjavík, Iceland. She received her MFA from Malmö Art Academy, Sweden in 2002 and BA from Icelandic College of Art and Crafts (Now the Iceland University of the Arts).
Blöndal has exhibited in various galleries and museums including: Reykjavik Art Museum; The Living Art Museum, Reykjavík; Galerie Noisy-le-Sec, Paris; Musee de Dessin, Graveline (in collaboration with Jimmie Durham and Maria Teresa Alves); i8 gallery, Reykjavik; Harbinger Project Space, Reykjavik; Rooseum, Malmö; Aarhus Museum, Denmark; Stavanger Kunsthall, Norway; Skellefteå Konsthall, Sweden; Ruangrupa, Jakarta; Skopje Museum, Macedonia; Gwangju Biennale; Skolska 28, Prague.
Residency programs include: Nifca Soumenlinna Helsinki; Skopje Art Museum Macedonia; HIAP Helsinki; Skaftfell Culture Center for Visual Art; Townhouse Gallery Cairo and Banff Arts Centre Canada.

About the work
Sign is a piece in a form of a pencil, made of ceramics, graphite and 24k gold, kept in a velvet box. The piece refers to the writing and the signature as a drawing, the signing of contracts and commitments made with our signature mark.
